Recent work in the Dales has opened out the woodland path that leads north from Bushway and has installed the replacement "Birch Steps" at the top of the path. This now gives an improved circular route which leads up to and down from the path to the Heswall Society bench/viewpoint. Sadly, part of the pleasure of this walk has been lost because of the recent fires, which have severely damaged large areas of heathland on the eastern edge of the Dales. Despite some recent rain, the ground surface across the Dales remains dry and flammable. Please take care.
