Alison McGovern MP visits the Dales

Our local MP Alison McGovern visited the Dales on 14th February to meet the people who maintain our local treasure: she met some of the Friends committee, some of the volunteers and ranger Chris Werney. After a brief introduction to Dale Farm, we took Alison on a slightly rainy ramble to show her a typical walking route and some of the work done by the volunteers (and the sheer volume of material we remove) and to talk about some of the issues we face in maintaining the rare lowland heath habitat. We ended by enjoying the views across the Dee estuary from the marble bench. Alison has been a member of the Friends for some time: we look forward to seeing her again.
